Mountainside Veterinary Hospital is a locally-owned pet clinic in SW Beaverton. Many of our team members—including Dr. Steve Haley—were born and raised right here in the SW Portland communities we serve. With our deep ties to this region, we can help you navigate the unique needs and challenges of pet care in the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Steve Haley, DVM
Owner & Veterinarian

Growing up on a small farm in Wilsonville, Oregon, Dr. Steve Haley learned the importance of the human-animal bond and the value of a day’s work. He carries these life lessons into every aspect of his work at Mountainside Veterinary Hospital. 

​Since graduating from the Oregon State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, Dr. Haley has developed broad experience in all areas of general practice. He has a keen interest in general and laparoscopic surgery and has provided minimally-invasive abdominal surgery since 2009. Dr. Haley also has extensive experience in internal medicine, endocrine disease management, diabetes management, dermatology, allergy management, behavior, and preventative care.

Ronna Overman, CVT
Owner & Practice Manager

After nearly 40 years in the veterinary field, Ronna brings unique insights and experiences to her work at Mountainside Veterinary Hospital. She’s worked in both specialty and general practices as a certified veterinary technician (CVT), practice manager, and team leader, and taken lessons from each of these roles. 

Now, as co-owner and practice manager, she leverages her firsthand experience to empower every member of the Mountainside Veterinary Hospital team. Ronna is passionate about helping people succeed and loves leading a team that works together, grows together, and learns from one another. She’s excited to begin the journey of serving the SW Portland area by providing exceptional care to patients and their people!

DR. Kristin Beckley, DVM
VETERINARIAN

Dr. Kristin Beckley is a PNW native who grew up on a small animal farm in Scholls, Oregon. With over 13 years of experience in veterinary medicine, she is passionate about providing personalized care for pets at every stage in life. Dr. Beckley enjoys working collaboratively with her clients to provide the best possible care for their amazing pets.

Dr. Beckley holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. As a veterinarian certified in Low-Stress Handling, she’s committed to making office visits happier, healthier, and more comfortable for both patients and their people.

DR. Jamie Cheshier, DVM
VETERINARIAN

Dr. Jamie Cheshier has over 13 years of experience as a veterinarian. She is passionate about veterinary medicine and truly enjoys preventative health, dentistry, and creating a care plan that honors the bond between people and pets. She strives to be a lifelong partner in each of her patient’s care.

Dr. Cheshier holds her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. With her enthusiasm for lifelong learning, she is also pursuing a Master’s Degree from Oregon Health and Sciences University. As an Arizona native who moved to the PNW eleven years ago, she hikes, runs, and enjoys weekend trips with her partner, Robert. She loves exploring all the amazing things that the northwest has to offer.

DR. Lisa Thrower, DVM
VETERINARIAN

Dr. Lisa Thrower has spent the last 23 years keeping dogs and cats happy and healthy. Whether she’s creating wellness plans for puppies and kittens, getting pets through an illness or injury, or performing crucial surgeries and procedures, Dr. Thrower is a kind, thoughtful, and compassionate part of your pet’s care team. 

Dr. Thrower has been practicing veterinary medicine since she graduated from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After over 20 years of experience, her favorite thing about being a veterinarian is still getting to see the deep connection between pets and their families. Her special interests in general medicine, dermatology, surgery, and dental care make her an excellent addition to the Mountainside team!

DR. Catie Brown, DVM
VETERINARIAN

For Dr. Catie Brown, veterinary medicine is a lifelong passion. In fact, she was still a baby when she first attended vet school classes with her mom! As an associate veterinarian, she understands that every pet has unique needs, and works with pet parents to formulate the best possible health plans.

Dr. Brown earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University and completed an internship at DoveLewis, where she learned the ins and outs of emergency and urgent care medicine. Dr. Brown is a patient, compassionate, and detail-oriented part of your pet's medical team, who loves building relationships with patients and their people.

DR. paige livingston DVM
VETERINARIAN

Since becoming a veterinarian in 2019, Dr. Paige Livingston has been deeply inspired by the resilience of animals and the strength of the human-animal bond. Known for her curiosity, compassion, and dedication, Dr. Livingston is committed to staying on the cutting edge of veterinary research and treatments, ensuring her patients receive the best care possible.

Dr. Livingston earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Harvard University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. Prior to joining the Mountainside team, she honed her skills in surgery and urgent care as an associate veterinarian and medical director of a large private practice. Dr. Livingston's big heart for rescue animals has led her to work with several organizations, providing care and low cost spay/neuter services to shelter animals and the public.

Brandon

Since earning his Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology, Brandon has been passionate about growing his professional interests and providing top tier care. In his role as a surgical and dental technician, he applies a meticulous eye for detail to everything—from anesthesia monitoring to post-operative care and pain management. Brandon’s significant training with dental specialty technicians has equipped him to provide exceptional care to Mountainside’s patients. ​

Brittany

Britany started her career in veterinary medicine behind the front desk, working hard to become a doctor’s assistant, before ultimately obtaining her license as a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2018. As a Fear Free certified professional, Brittany does her best to see the world through her patients’ eyes. Whether she’s monitoring anesthesia, prepping for surgery, or brightening our team’s day with her positive attitude, Brittany is an empathetic, hard-working part of the Mountainside family.

Stacie

As a Certified Veterinary Technician, Stacie has spent over 26 years getting pets back on the road to recovery. She joins Mountainside with 9+ years of experience in general practice and 17 years of experience in a specialty surgical practice. Whether she’s in the treatment room, assisting with surgeries, or managing patient care, she leverages her extensive experience and get-it-done work ethic to advocate for pets.

Peter

During his 10+ years in the veterinary industry, Peter has been a passionate patient advocate and care provider. Prior to joining Mountainside, he spent nearly a decade working in ER/critical care. In that environment, he worked alongside specialists in neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopedic, and surgery. Peter holds a BAs in Sociology and an Associates in Veterinary Technology from Portland Community College. As a deeply empathetic person, Peter’s happiest when he’s helping his teammates! In his spare time, he volunteers in avian rescues and local animal shelters.

AMY

After 30 years in the veterinary industry, Amy is still excited to see and learn new things every day! Growing up in small town California, she was the kid that wanted to bring every animal home. Now, in her role as a Certified Veterinary Technician, she loves getting to connect with pets and make a direct, positive impact on their health. In addition to receiving her Oregon CVT license in 2010, Amy has been certified in Arizona and California. In 2023, she also completed a certificate for veterinary practice management from Penn Foster. ​

Haley first started working with local shelter animals while she was still in high school. This lifelong passion for animals led her to earn her Associate Technician Degree from Penn Foster. She loves the positive impact she’s able to make in pets’ care, whether she’s assisting with surgeries, performing routine diagnostics, or providing supportive care for sick patients. Haley is a cheerful, enthusiastic team player and we’re grateful to have her on our CVT team!

Deryn

In her role as a medical assistant, Deryn’s favorite responsibility is giving patients all the love and snuggles they need. She loves getting to know our incredible clients and playing a hands-on role in keeping pets happy and healthy. Deryn is currently working towards her Bachelor of Science in Zoology, so when she’s not in-clinic you can usually find her curled up with her three dogs and one cat, either reading or studying.

Jasmine

As a medical assistant, Jasmine supports the human-animal bond by providing attentive care to both pets and their people. She leverages her experience working in general practice, surgical specialty, and veterinary radiology to provide patients the very best care. She especially loves helping Mountainside’s sweet senior patients. Jasmine is currently taking prerequisite courses to apply to veterinary school.

Sierra

Since joining Mountainside in January 2022, Sierra has worn a few different hats. Whether she’s greeting patients as a CSR or supporting doctors and patients as a Medical Assistant, she’s dedicated to providing the best possible care. Sierra loves being part of a team where every team member is empowered to practice the highest level of medicine. Whether she’s educating clients about how to care for their furry family members or assisting with diagnostics and procedures, she enjoys every opportunity to touch lives (both human and animal) in a positive way.

Tess is here to help pets feel safe and loved while they’re away from their people. For her, that means maintaining a fear-free environment. Whether she’s assisting with patient care or putting together patient “charcuterie boards,” she does it with the same care. Tess is currently finishing school to become a CVT (while her dog, Ernie, trains to be a therapy dog for children and elders).

An aspiring future veterinarian, Sarah consistently pushes herself to learn more about keeping patients happy and healthy. During her eight years in the industry, she has shadowed and worked with veterinary specialists to strengthen her experience in the field. Sarah is trained in fear-free handling and goes out of her way to minimize stress during visits—both for pets and their people. She’s inspired by the human-animal bond and feels honored to help support the deep connection between people and their pets.

With her outgoing personality and a smile that lights up the room, Christina has a knack for brightening people’s day. Over her 16+ years in the veterinary industry, she’s found that her favorite part of the job is loving on animals and helping keep them healthy. When she’s not at the clinic, you can find her making people feel loved as a newly licensed hair stylist!

With her cheerful outlook and bubbly personality, Lyla has made it her mission to brighten everyone's day, every day! As one of the Medical Assistants at Mountainside Veterinary Hospital, she loves contributing to the well-being of animals. Lyla made the jump to veterinary medicine after several years of working with pets in a daycare setting. Her experience providing exceptional care makes her a top-notch patient advocate as she continues to grow her veterinary skillset.

As one of our Medical Assistants, Erin works tirelessly to keep things moving on track. Whether she’s transcribing medical records, filling prescriptions, or working hands-on with patients, she strives to be attentive, kind, and caring. Between growing up with dogs, riding horses, working at a goat farm, and working in a feline-only practice, Erin has experience caring for critters of all shapes and sizes. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.

Maddie loves showing up to Mountainside Veterinary Hospital knowing she gets to help animals recover from illness and that her work has a positive impact on people's lives! As a hard-working member of our Medical Assistants team, she helps with every aspect of patient care–from check-in and diagnostics to prescription refills and surgeries. Maddie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and is currently studying to become a certified veterinary technician. Her passion for global impact also led her to work with wildlife in Costa Rica for 9 months.

Before her decade of veterinary industry experience, Bridget worked in retail, as a “teacher” in a mommy and me company, and volunteered with shelter dogs. Each of these experiences helped her grow into the empathetic, collaborative team player she is today! Her favorite part of the job is working with doctors and getting to know patients and their owners better. Bridget is Fear Free Certified (Level II) and Basic Life Saving Certified, making her an invaluable member of our Medical Assistants team.

As a passionate patient advocate, Liz loves being a voice for the animals who come through our front door! She attended Carrington College in 2016 to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant. In her current role, she works collaboratively to intake patients, administer vaccines, and ensure they receive the care and diagnostics that they need. Liz is a bubbly, inquisitive team player who is truly inspired by her co-workers and the animals she serves.

Brian

With five years of experience in veterinary medicine and another seven working at animal shelters, Brian is an experienced customer service representative who loves helping people take care of their pets. As an adaptable problem-solver, Brian thrives when he’s serving clients and supporting his team. While veterinary medicine can have its stressful moments, he always does his best to keep calm, stay friendly, and make sure Mountainside’s clients get the information and service they need.

In her role as a customer service representative, Kirsten helps ensure a stress-free, comfortable, and seamless experience for our clients and their pets. Kirsten got her Bachelors Degree in Biology from CSU Chico. Kirsten enjoys spending time with her dog and cats in her down time.

As a Customer Service Representative, Julien is one of the first faces you’ll see when you walk through the door! In this role, he keeps the day on track by responding to calls and emails, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with the pharmacy team. With his outgoing personality, he loves meeting people and their pets, knowing he can positively impact their comfort and happiness.

​Katie came to Mountainside with over 13 years of experience in the field. With a degree in psychology, she brings a unique understanding of both human and animal behavior to her role. At home, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and their sweet Pug, Eleanor. She also volunteers with a local dog rescue, sharing her love for animals beyond the clinic.

​Isabella joined the Mountainside Veterinary Hospital team in October of 2023! Since then, she’s been one of the friendly faces that help our patients and their people. In her role as a customer service coordinator, she’s your go-to resource for appointments, prescription requests, and any questions you may have about your pet’s care. Isabella is proud to be part of a team that goes above and beyond for every pet that walks (or gets carried) through the door!
